Governing Structure of the Missoula Cooperative

Organizer - Organizer

  1. The Organizers will occupy a one-year term, with the Coop founders serving the first year and elections to follow.
  2. Elections will be held at the First Full Membership Meeting, to be held in late Spring or early Fall 2004.
  3. Organizers will be able to make recomendations on causes and initiatives to the Active Individuals and Active Organizations.
  4. Organizers will work closely with the Steering Committe and Active Organizations

Steering Committee

  1. The Steering Committee will serve a two-year term, with the initial Steering Committee to be appointed by agreement by both Coop founders.
  2. An Interum Steering Committee will be created no later than January 31st, 2004, with an official Steering Committee to be elected along with the Organizers at the First Full Membership Meeting.
  3. The Steering Committee will work with Individual Members, Organizations, the Organizers, and the general public.

Active Organizations

  1. Active Organizations will be expected to adhere to the Mission Statement through continuous activity in the Coop.
  2. Active Organizations will work with the Organizers and Steering Committee to ensure that they're interests are addressed by the Coop and that their membership is active in addressing the interests of the Coop.

Active Individuals

  1. Active Individuals are those who have paid the annual membership fee (to be initiated at the First Full Member Meeting) and have maintained good standing with the Coop.
  2. Active Individuals maintain good standing by pursuing the interests of the Coop by:
    1. Volunteering on behalf of the Coop to projects supported by the Coop
    2. Acting as a Coop Organizer or member of the Steering Committee
    3. Assisting Coop Organizers or the Steering Committee
    4. Acting as a leader in an Active Organization in the Coop
