On Meditation

The UM Campus Sangha is out of commission! Sorry folks. Start it again! Good luck and best wishes, hope some of the stuff on this site may be helpful...

This site is devoted to the University of Montana Campus Sangha. The Sangha is a group of individuals who believe simply that a better life can be accomplished through meditation and the employment of Buddhist principles in everyday life.

Meditation has been widely accepted and practiced as a method of creating crucial awareness. Without awareness one is only able to react to the events as they take place around them. One becomes lost, confused, or overwhelmed.

With awareness one can begin to create, rather than react to, the reality in which they exist. This is a great step on the path of Buddhism. One needs not be a Buddhist for awareness to come about. Most Buddhist meditation techniques are simple and universal, requiring no devotion or belief system.

The effects of meditation have been incredible. People who were once frazzled and hectic are now calm and focused. Those who's lives were controled by unhappiness and anger are now cheerful and understanding. It's not magic, and it certainly isn't some new-age fad. It is an age-old technique by which all people can gain a better life.
